FAQ

Availability

Where can I download RigCare?

RigCare is being prepared for iPhone and iPad. An App Store link will be added here when it is available. This website does not take payments or collect a launch mailing list.

iCloud sync & your data

Why is iCloud sync off by default?

You can start with records stored on this device and no separate RigCare account. Enable sync in Settings if you want to use your Apple account to sync app data across devices. Device backups and iCloud Photos are separate settings.

What happens when I change the sync setting?

RigCare saves and verifies a recovery backup before changing its sync setting in either direction. Turning sync off stops syncing and retains the device and iCloud copies. The current app keeps the working library separately on the device, so signing out of iCloud pauses syncing without clearing that library. If you switch iCloud accounts, the app asks you to return to the account connected to this library. Keep an exported backup outside the app too.

Is every pre-release build able to sync?

Some pre-release builds show “iCloud sync is temporarily unavailable.” Records remain available on the device in those builds. Sync must be enabled and tested for the release version before it is available to customers.

What do the sync messages mean?

  • On this device only: RigCare’s iCloud sync is off.
  • Waiting for first sync: no successful sync has been recorded yet.
  • Synced …: the time of the last successful sync event, not a guarantee that every later change has arrived on another device.
  • Not signed in or storage is full: check your Apple account and iCloud storage.
  • Last synced … — check iCloud settings: a recent successful sync has not been observed.

How do I move to a new device?

Enable sync on both devices using the same iCloud account, or use Settings → Export Backup on the old device and transfer the .rigcare file. Restore it from the new device’s welcome screen or Settings → Import Backup. A backup includes records and stored attachment copies. Keep the old copy until you have checked the restored data.

Records & photos

Can I import a spreadsheet?

Export a CSV with one row per service, then map its columns in RigCare. The import preview reports rows it cannot read. Review the mapped dates, costs and other fields before importing.

Which records count toward the free limit?

The free limit covers 20 ongoing records. CSV-imported records are exempt. A manually backfilled record is exempt when its service date is before the app’s installation date. Simply choosing an earlier date in the normal record editor does not make a record exempt.

Does deleting a record erase every copy?

Deletion removes the entry from the active view. The app retains earlier versions, deletion history and associated image data for reconciling changes, and includes that history in backups. Synced history can also remain in private iCloud storage. A backup may contain records and photos no longer visible in the app; consider this before sharing it. See the privacy notice.

Where are the photo originals?

RigCare keeps compressed copies. Selecting an existing photo does not remove its original from Photos. Camera shots are also saved to Photos if the app setting is on and permission is granted. See the privacy notice for how attachment copies sync and export.

Maintenance guidance

Does the plan match my exact RV?

The plan uses your RV type and selected equipment to suggest relevant tasks. It does not identify every component model, model year or operating condition. Follow the applicability notes, linked sources and your own manuals. Some tasks have no default interval because the schedule depends on the specific equipment or an event.

Can I change the seasonal reminder dates?

Yes. October 15 for winterization and April 15 for de-winterization are suggested starting dates. Confirm dates when creating a plan or adding a rig. For an existing seasonal task, open its details and choose Set Seasonal Date to select a month and day and preview the change. Saved completion years stay unchanged, and an unfinished older season is not skipped. Choose dates for your climate, equipment and storage plans; reminders do not predict weather.

What can I edit about a rig?

Settings → Manage Rigs lets you change a rig’s name, model year and make/model. Existing equipment answers and maintenance history are retained. Confirm unknown equipment against the manuals before relying on a suggested task.

Purchases

What is included in the free plan?

One rig; the core roof/seals, tire, battery, safety, water/waste and seasonal systems; checklists; 20 ongoing records; five custom tasks; historical imports and eligible backfill; and backup export. Pro adds the other maintenance systems, additional rigs, unlimited records and custom tasks, and PDF service-history export.

How much is Pro?

The US subscription prices are $2.90 per month or $29.00 per year. Both plans include the same Pro features and renew automatically unless canceled. The App Store purchase screen shows the current price and billing terms before you confirm a purchase.

How do I restore or manage a purchase?

Use Restore Purchases in the app with the Apple account used for the original purchase. Manage or cancel a subscription through the app’s subscription-management link or Apple’s subscription settings. For refund requests, use Apple’s refund instructions.
