RV Winterization Checklist
Start with the winterization procedures for your RV and every water-using appliance. Tank, tankless and other heater systems can require different procedures. These are planning prompts, not a complete procedure or freeze-protection guarantee.
Water System
- Drain fresh water tank
- Dump and flush black and gray tanks
- Identify the water heater model and follow its shutdown and winterization procedure
- Use bypass valves only as required by the installed water system and heater instructions
- Follow the specified draining and winterizing method for pipes, fixtures and appliances
- Use only the winterizing products and quantities approved for each applicable part of the system
Exterior & Storage
- Inspect and touch up roof/body seals before storage
- Wash and dry exterior, cover if stored outside
- Follow the vehicle and tire manufacturers’ storage-pressure, inspection and protection instructions
- Follow the installed battery and charger manufacturers’ storage instructions
- Remove all food; leave fridge doors propped open
- Close LP valves; check for rodent entry points
